Rally lovers and iconic cars collectors, here is an opportunity that may be talked about. A Lancia Stratos HF Stradale from 1974, one of the 492 copies built to approve the group 4 model of the World Rally Championship, is currently on sale on the American platform “Bring a Trailer”. And its current price is surprisingly low for a car of this caliber, especially since it carries the signatures of two rally legends: Sandro Munari and Miki Biasion.
An icon born for victory
Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone and from the spectacular Zero Stratos concept, the Lancia Stratos is a real legend on four wheels. Thanks to its short chassis, its ultra-light fiberglass bodywork and its 2.4-liter V6 Ferrari Dino engine developing 190 hp, it crushed competition in rally, winning three consecutive titles in the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976.
The model proposed for sale, chassis n ° 001515, has a singular history: originally delivered to Japan, it was imported into the United States in 2015 where it was stored several years before benefiting from a full restoration between 2022 and 2024, billed at more than 290,000 dollars (around 265,000 euros). To date, it only displayed 69,000 kilometers, of which only 100 carried out by the current owner.
Careful restoration while respecting the origin
The vehicle has benefited from meticulous work: complete revision of the V6 engine, refurbishment of Weber carburetors, repair of electricity, replacement of the battery, reconstruction of suspensions with Koni components, new brakes, as well as a loyal interior refresh.
The interior is now dressed in beige alcantara buckets, a “Mouse fur” dashboard, red carpet, a wooden lever knob, all in an atmosphere faithful to the 70s. The presentation is supplemented by 14 -inch gilded magnesium rims mounted in Pirelli Cin36.
The car is delivered with a certificate of authenticity Lancia Classiche, a certificate from the Centro Storico Fiat, the documentation of the work, the period brochure, and better still: It is signed under the hood by the two champions Sandro Munari and Miki Biasion. With its timeless lines, its Ferrari engine, its heritage in competition and its rarity, the Lancia Stratos HF Stradale remains one of the largest myths in the Italian automobile.
