This 1,000 m place2 will welcome patients and their loved ones for free by offering them personalized support and a place of reception and conviviality, in the goal “To help each person concerned to cross the disease in the best possible conditions” and so “Reduce existing inequalities that cancer accentuates”. “In a few years, we hope to be able to accommodate 1 in 5 patients with cancer in Paris, says Jean-René Brunetière, president of the Paris League Committee. “In our old premises located in the 13the District, we lacked space. A support offer
The Maison de Paris will offer a space dedicated to social and administrative support (financial aid, access to rights, orientation towards suitable services, etc.). “About 80 % of patients who ask us for support on a request for financial assistance have less than 5 euros per day and per person to eat”, says Lucille Denis. The house will welcome employees for care for care such as socio-aesthetics and socio-coiffure, psychological support, adapted physical activity, dietetics or even return to employment. “We program this care with patients and in connection with their hospital care program”, specifies the manager.
In parallel, the house will offer collective workshops such as theater or the choir, but also prevention actions. “We will educate schoolchildren about tobacco in particular. We also intervene in business on risk factors or even screening ”, Add Lucille Denis. Meeting rooms and an auditorium will be made available for exchange times between the public and the actors in the fight against cancer. “Researchers will be at home too at home”declares the president of the Paris Committee. The project benefited from local support from the city of Paris and the Île-de-France region, which paid grants up to 300,000 euros.
