Nancy Lopez, 19, and his boyfriend Darvin Javier Dejesus-Taboada, 18, had been killed in the violent collision between their car and the JR.

At the time, blood tests had revealed that the driver’s blood alcohol level was 0.272, more than three times the legal limit.

First disappearance

As the Florida prosecutors decided to deposit charges, Guts Jr. had already disappeared, according to the judicial files of which CBC recently obtained a copy.

He was reappeared on radars in 2002 when the American authorities indicated that he had been involved in another accident with the weakened faculties, this time in Connecticut.

Guts Jr. was then arrested and sent back to Florida, where he had been released on bail for US $ 5,000. He was to return to a Florida court in October 2003, but he did not show up at the hearing.

Guts Jr. was always the subject of a wanted notice when it was intercepted in Canada.

Information anonymous

CBC revealed that he lived with impunity in Toronto, where he worked as a Cartomanancer and animator of a set-up game in a bar in the gay district.

It is always unknown how the American, however, took it to enter Canada in 2003, but Ontario judicial files show that he is underground immigrant.

Guts Jr. was finally arrested on February 26 thanks to anonymous information that the Toronto police had received in November a cyber -detective which used to find it facial recognition (new window).

Florida prosecutor Brian C. Hagner had asked the Canadian authorities to refuse to refuse Guts Jr. any request for liberation under deposit pending extradition procedures.

The American risks up to 30 years in prison if he is found guilty in the United States. He will have to return to court in mid-December to confirm the hearing on the extradition of January 15, 2026.
