An important fire broke out this Wednesday in Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône) on Wednesday, requiring the massive intervention of more than 180 firefighters supported by more than 80 terrestrial devices. The flames, fussing by unfavorable weather conditions, have led to the deployment of many air means, including bombed water, Canadair and Dash helicopters.
The inhabitants called to the greatest vigilance
Several hamlets of the city are affected by the trajectory of the flames. Faced with the progression of fire, the firefighters of the Bouches-du-Rhône call for vigilance. “Stay shelter in a hard habitat, do not climb the roads, close the shutters and openings of your home,” they recall on X. They also advise to “enter the sensitive equipment, water the facades, leave its portal open for firefighters and facilitate the passage of rescue”.
The sector is placed under close surveillance while control operations continue on the ground and in the air to try to control the fire. According to the maritima.fr site, the gusts should last until 11 p.m. before weakening around one in the morning and the wind will then fall in the night.
