2. Labor market
In terms of labor market, Bart de Wever repeats it: “It is in no way social breakage.” For the Prime Minister, the agreement would aim more “A necessary adaptation” legislation for “Strengthen the competitiveness of our businesses”.
“A series of labor market measures will allow companies and workers to organize their activity more flexible and adapted to their specific situation”, specifies the Prime Minister. “There is the abolition of the general prohibition of night work. Night work will now apply between midnight and 5 am in the e-commerce and distribution sector. During voluntary overtime becomes more advantageous on a tax level. […] The notice in the event of dismissal will be limited to one year maximum. The minimum weekly work duration is suitable to allow services less than a third time. This will combat black work. These are measures that strengthen freedom of both employers and workers. “
“This reform is one of the levers that allow you to achieve this and that, I repeat, without social breakage. On the contrary, workers have everything to gain in the strengthening of our competitiveness, because it has a direct and positive impact on their salary. Productivity and competitiveness are indeed rewarded. At the end of the month, there are more for everyone.
3. Pensions
For the Prime Minister, the aging of the population is a major problem for social security financing, and particularly, pensions. “Our pension diet is under medium -term pressure,” adds Bart de Wever. “In the 1990s, there were only four workers per pensioner. Today, three. In the future, there will be two. It is an essential reality that we will be confronted. […] I understand that some people are unhappy, but it is precisely the absence of measures in the past that has placed us in this situation. “
The Prime Minister then recalls the decisions to harmonize regimes, which were already in the government agreement and will therefore be materialized: “Officials will have to work 45 years to have a full pension, like all workers,” said the Prime Minister. “The old favorable periods are therefore deleted. Again, this will be done gradually from 2027. It will be harmonization with the regimes of the self-employed and employees. This will be made in compliance with the rights made up, the equally acquired rights. The equalization is also repealed. And finally, there will be a bonus-malus system as everywhere in Europe.”
4. Taxation
As a reminder, the first components of the tax reform were set in the summer agreement. A reform at 4 billion euros, which aims to “Strengthen purchasing power for those who work and who will undertake.”
“There is an increase in the exempt quota to reach € 15,300 in 2029 (currently set at € 10,910). The special social security subscription will be greatly reduced, which will have a favorable effect for isolated people. For minimum wages, crude will be equal to the net by 2029, through an increase in the employment. 33 % maximum taxes. There will be an exemption called “a head”.
5. Health care
Finally, in terms of health care, Bart de Wever wants to tighten the screw on public spending. “The government provides for an in-depth reform of health care which aims to fight against waste while guaranteeing the freedom of our doctors,” he said. “Doctors will be able, in consultation with mutuals, submit a proposal concerning fees. The reform of hospitals will be presented in 2026. We are also continuing the digitalization of the sector.”
