Carrefour Belgium has opened an autonomous micro-magasin Buybye in an Ibis hotel north of Paris. Hotel customers will have 24 and 7 days a week access to a range of products for breakfast, lunch and snack.

Carrefour Belgium and the French hotel group Accor opened a Buybye crossroads at the Ibis Styles Roissy CDG hotel, near Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. This 6 m² micro-magasin is the first autonomous store with artificial intelligence in a hotel, says Carrefour. The distributor has already deployed the Buybye concept in its own headquarters in Zaventem, at the Brussels headquarters of the Publicis advertising group and Shape, the NATO military base in Mons.
Carrefour Buybye works with smart refrigerators and artificial intelligence technology. Hotel customers open the refrigerator doors via their bank card or a payment application and choose their products. These are then automatically recognized, weighed and paid. The system guarantees a fluid and effortless purchasing experience, ideal for travelers with a busy or late schedule. Carrefour evokes “the start of a promising partnership with Accor”: other openings therefore seem planned.
