While work conflicts and strikes darken the Canada Post Ciel, companies are increasingly turning to alternative solutions for their delivery needs.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Companies conducted a study with 2,317 businesses to determine the impact of service breaks in Posts Canada. The survey was held in the months of June and July.
In light of the responses obtained, it is revealed that four out of five SMEs still use the Canada Post Services, but that the 2024 strike has caused certain habit changes. The survey indicates that 55 % of respondents have been using Canada Posts less since the last strike.
We learn that regular mail such as checks or administrative papers are always sent by Canada Posts while packages are more entrusted to private companies like Fedex or Purolator. However, uncertainty in the face of Canada Post Services have prompted some companies to turn to digital mail.
Moreover, a new strike would push 67 % of small and medium -sized businesses to abandon Canada Posts in favor of a more reliable solution. It is therefore not surprising to learn that hardly one in five barely believes that Posts Canada is an essential service.
The 53,000 Canada Post members could trigger a new strike when they judge timely when the voting on employer offers will be concluded. The imposed deadline is 1is august. Recall that in 2024, a strike had paralyzed the delivery of the mail for a month. When returning to work, it had taken several weeks before catching up with lost time.
