After Donald Trump’s decision to destroy millions of dollars in contraceptives, mainly implants and IUDs, stored in Belgium, France assured, Friday, August 1, not having “No way” to requisition them. “Unfortunately, there is no legal basis allowing an intervention of a European health authority and a fortiori from the National Agency for Medicines Safety (ANSM) to recover these medical devices”explained the Ministry of Health, requested by AFP.

An impossibility first justified by the nature of the stocks, which are not considered as “Medicines of major therapeutic interest (MITM)” and by the quantity of contraceptives already present in France. “We are not within the framework of a supply tension”, said the ministry.

Added to this is the lack of information concerning the place of incineration of contraceptives, ensures the government, while certain Anglo-Saxon media evoke a destruction planned in France. Belgium has announced, for its part, that it had taken diplomatic steps with the United States to explore all the “Possible tracks to avoid the destruction of these products”.

Tuesday, several elected officials had arrested Emmanuel Macron by denouncing “An intolerable sanitary and financial waste”. These products, mainly IUDs and implants, were initially intended for “Countries with low or intermediate income, as part of the American agency for international development” programs ” (USAID), dismantled by the Trump administration.
