The end of an era for Gacha
A page turns for one of the most lucrative free-to-play of this decade. Launched in 2020 on PC, mobile and PS4 then the year after on PS5, Genshin Impact has just confirmed that he will soon be supported on the old PlayStation machine. A decision announced this morning by its developer“Due to limitations related to hardware performance and the size of applications on the platform”.
This judgment will not be done suddenly since this closure will be done in three stages:
- September 10, 2025: The game will disappear from the PlayStation Store of the PS4 and it will no longer be possible to add it to its library (for new players)
- February 25, 2026: Purchases at stake will no longer be possible (Primo-Gemmes purchases, etc.)
- April 8, 2026: closure of the doors, the game will no longer be supported and it will no longer be possible to connect
Of course, the PS5 version is not concerned and it will always be possible to play on the latter. If you are still on PlayStation 4, no other solution will be offered to you, except to pass on another platform. Remember to link your account if you want to go to another version. Periodic messages will be displayed to invite you to do so at the end of the year. A priori, all future updates will be well deployed, as was the case for the 5.8 recently.
