A 15 -month -old baby lost his life on Thursday July 17, 2025 in Namur, Belgium, after being forgotten by his dad, reports the RTBF, a Belgian media. The Namur prosecution announced the news this Friday, July 18, indicating that the child died ofhyperthermia. And for good reason, the little boy had been left all day in the car exposed to the sun. According to the first elements of the investigation, the father filed his elder somewhere before going to work. He then had to put his baby on the crèche but would have forgotten his presence in the vehicle. He was obviously not used to taking care of him in the morning and would therefore have omitted to take him to the crèche, according to information from the Belgian media DH. It was not until the end of the day, when the boy’s grandparents came to pick him up, that reality was discovered. The child had indeed stayed in the car all day, exposed to heat.
A medical examiner was appointed to determine the causes of the child’s death. No violence and no intervention by a third person have been noted. The baby is therefore indeed died because of an excessive elevation of its body temperature. Judicial information for manslaughter has been opened by the Namur prosecution, in order to clarify the precise circumstances of the events.
