Jenifer Dumez is a farmer in Boncelles with her sister Wendy. They also have meadows in Esneux, where their young cows quietly paid next to the route of the Tour de Wallonia. Or at least, that’s what they thought before receiving a phone call.
“We were contacted yesterday around 4:15 pm by residents that our ten heifers, during the helicopter passage, got afraid, passed the fence and ended up in the bikes what,” explains Jenifer, who sent us the video above, turned by a resident, via our orange button alert us.
On the images, we see the bovids running alongside the few runners behind the peloton and visibly surprised and prudent. “They have traveled more or less a kilometer and arrived at a small roundabout, I do not know if it is because they have already been in this meadow that they know it, but the bikes were mounted on the right and they turned to the left and went down to take refuge there. »»
No consequence
Jenifer and Wendy recovered their 10 heifers quickly. In the early evening, they were able to reintegrate another meadow than the one in which they were previously. Indeed, to escape, they broke the fence.
More fear than harm, therefore, for a short -lived breakaway. So much so that the local police of the Secova zone received no reports and that their teams who supervised the race did not witness the scene.
