Latest pleadings of the three Quebecers suspected of extremist conspiracy

(Quebec) A judge of the Court of Quebec should hear the final pleadings of the Crown and the defense lawyers on Monday during the hearing on the deposit of three men accused of terrorism in the Quebec region.

Men are accused of plotting to seize land in the Quebec region.

The crown is opposed to the liberation under bail of Simon Angers-Audet, 24, Raphaël Lagacé, 25, and Marc-Aurèle Chabot, 24, who face charges of facilitation of a terrorist activity, as well as other charges related to the illegal storage of firearms and the possession of explosives and prohibited devices.

Judge René de la Sablonnière heard the testimonies of the three men and their relatives on Friday.

An order of non-publication applies to the details of the testimonies presented in the court, which began Thursday with the testimony of an agent of the Royal Gendarmerie of Canada (RCMP) for the prosecution.

A fourth accused, Matthew Forbes, 33, faces accusations of weapons and was released on deposit last week under a long list of conditions, including wearing a GPS bracelet.

Forbes and Chabot were active members of the Canadian Armed Forces, but the army said they no longer exercised functions and had no access to the base without escort since their arrest.
