A 14-year-old teenager died on the night of Monday to Tuesday in an accident on the Plaines-du-Loup road in Lausanne, while fled a police check, the Lausanne authorities said in a statement.
Heavy falling on a motorcycle
Alerted Monday evening around 11:15 p.m. on an urban rodeo on the chestnut chemin, a biker of the Lausanne police was sent on the spot. It was on the Plaines-du-Loup route that the latter came across the girl who was driving a motorcycle without a helmet. She turned “to her sight and therefore at high speed in order to escape the police check”.
In the curve on the right forming the intersection of the Plains-du-Loup route and that of the Châtelard, the teenager “lost control of her machine, and for an indefinite reason, has climbed the grassy part located at this place, before falling heavily on the ground”, specify the authorities.
What responsibility for the biker?
The victim was immediately rescued by the police biker, but seriously injured, “she died a few hours later from her injuries” at the CHUV.
Is the biker of the municipal police engaged in the fatal outcome of the chase? Clearly, was the fatal accident caused by this same chase? “All the elements will be taken into account in the investigation which is open,” replies Michel Gandillon, replacing the chief of the Communication Division of the Lausanne police.
