“Like a family mourning”, images of tributes to Diogo Jota supporters in front of Anfield

Many Reds supporters have collected themselves in front of Anfield in memory of their striker Diogo Jota, who died tragically in a road accident with his brother André Silva on Thursday in Spain. Supporters “speechless”

Near the legendary Anfield stadium, dozens of Reds supporters have deposited wreaths of flowers, heart -shaped balloons and scarves with the mention “rest in peace Diogo Jota”. “It’s so hard. It’s like a family mourning, honestly. The goals he scored, the memories he gave us … We cannot thank him enough,” said Tom Barry, 32 -year -old mechanic, dressed in a Liverpool red jersey with ‘Jota 20’ on the back. “He left too early, but will be forever in our hearts … I am speechless. I just felt the need to come here to pay tribute to him,” continues Abdul, 30 -year -old ambulance.

The Portuguese international (48 selections, 14 goals), who was 28 years old, winner of a second league of nations with Seleçao last month, was the father of three children.
