Nancy Sabourin embarks on the electoral campaign as a candidate for the post of advisor in the Rivières district, in Trois-Rivières.
“Public service has always guided my long career in communication. It is in a spirit of continuity, that of working with and for people, that I realize this dream, ”she said on her Facebook page.
Ms. Sabourin has had a 32-year career in Radio-Canada Mauricie and Center-du-Québec, including ten as a presenter of the regional telejournal and fourteen as director of the station.
When she was announced, she promised to remain an active citizen for her community. This is what she intends to do by engaging on the political path. “I want to give again. I am really returned there in my life. I have time and availability. “
It establishes several parallels between the role of municipal councilor and her former functions in Radio-Canada. “For example on the budget plan, I know what it is to manage public money and the importance that each dollar can have. I did it on Radio-Canada, and I want to do so in the city of Trois-Rivières. ”
She has been officially retired since last Friday. Having a vacation, she took the opportunity to be a volunteer during the Quebec Games.
Ms. Sabourin is also inseparable from Christmas Christmas. She got involved in the Telethon for 25 years, including 13 in animation.
Thanks in particular to her commitment to the community, her experience as a manager and her ability to mobilize people, she believes she is able to take up this new challenge.
“I am someone who is able to rally people. I like harmony. I am a big team worker. I like it when you are a gang and we train in the same direction. I think I can be a good rowing to make our city prosper. We have a great city, but we can always do better, and I want to bring my little stone to the municipal building. ”
Resident of the rivers district for over ten years, she first wants to get involved for the citizens of her neighborhood. “It is not for nothing that I do not go to the town hall. I think each district, each advisor has something to bring around the council table. ”
Wishing to be the voice of her district to the municipal council, she intends to work so that he develops at her full potential and that community life which takes place there is “a little richer and a little more varied”. It intends to present various actions during the campaign related to these different points.
“What is especially important for me from now is to meet citizens, to hear them, to go see what they need.”

It is not aware that conflicts have been numerous in municipal council in recent years. This does not worry him, especially since a new dynamic will probably be established at the Town Hall following the election of November 2.
But it is well aware that the work of advisor is not easy. “I know it will not be easy. I don’t see that with pink glasses, but I go with a good dose of energy and, perhaps, a little innocence. ”
Women in politics continue to deal with several challenges. Ms. Sabourin recalls that during her first steps as a journalist, the world of communications was a “boys club”. “I’m used to making my place,” she said.
The river district is currently represented by the City Forte, Pascale Albernhe-Lahaie.
As Ms. Albernhe-Lahaie brigade the town hall, the position of advisor is therefore to be filled. His party has already announced the candidacy of Agnès Tousignant. Activist Christiane Bernier is also on the ranks.
Ms. Sabourin also greets the fact that three women appear in the rivers district until now.
“I am delighted to see that in my neighborhood, for example, there are three women candidates. I know that politics is hard, that many people are disinterested in it and even are afraid of it. But I still see that there is an interest in participating in democratic life, and I find it really encouraging. ”
