Nuclear: inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency have left Iran

A team of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency “left Iran” on Friday to “return to the siege” of the organization in Vienna after the suspension by Tehran of its cooperation.

The AIAA (the International Atomic Energy Agency) announced on X that its team of inspectors “left Iran” on Friday to “return to the siege” of the organization in Vienna after the suspension by Tehran of its cooperation.

The director general of the AIEA Rafael Grossi reiterated “the crucial importance” to discuss with Iran modalities to resume “its essential activities of surveillance and verification as soon as possible”.

On Wednesday, Iran suspended its cooperation with this UN agency responsible for nuclear security, against which Tehran multiplied the accusations, after the Israeli and American bombings against its nuclear sites.

A decision that has provoked the anger of Israel, his enemy since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and which was condemned by Germany and the United States. The UN deemed it “disturbing”.

Affirming that Iran was close to making nuclear weapons, Israel launched a massive attack on this country on June 13, hitting hundreds of nuclear and military sites.

Iran, which denies wanting to acquire the atomic bomb but which defends its right to enrich uranium for civilian purposes, retaliated with missile and drone fire in Israel.

Tehran joined in 1970 to the TNP and said his attachment to this treaty on Thursday.

The director general of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, had stressed on June 26 that his cooperation was “a legal obligation”, provided that there remains a “signatory country”.

The Iranian law does not specify what concrete measures could lead to the suspension of its cooperation with the IAEA, whose inspectors have not had access to Iranian uranium stocks since June 10.
