The president of the Jura Support for Undocumented Movement (MJSSP) was acquitted Tuesday by the courts in Porrentruy. Meanwhile, He was criticized for having hosted an asylum applicant on the run from a federal center.
The defendant admitted to having given his address to this Syrian national. but assured that he had never hosted porrentruy: acquitted after lending her her at her house. Police had not found him during the search led at his home in April 2024.
The activist defended herself by explaining that she had simply “loaned” her postal address. to allow this refugee to keep her request for an open asylum.
To justify the acquittal. the court explained that there were several “obstacles” to a conviction, such as the small duration of the provision of the address (about two weeks) or the fact that the activist never sought to hide the applicant.
