BearingPoint supports SUVA in the development of Swiss Safety VR, a cutting -edge virtual reality platform offering highly effective safety training to more than two million people insured with SUVA.
The prevention of professional accidents is essential, not only to protect employees, but also to reduce the financial and operational risks for companies. This applies in particular to the construction sector, where workers are exposed to dangers daily. Although security measures are constantly improved, there are still each year in Switzerland between 260,000 and nearly 300,000 accidents at work-especially on construction sites-due to non-compliance with safety instructions, pressure related to deadlines or negligence.
An evolving simulation platform incorporating real scenarios for safety training
In collaboration with BearingPoint, SUVA has deployed advanced training technology integrating both virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (XR). After having evaluated the technical potential of these technologies, BearingPoint has developed immersive scenarios focused on risky tasks, such as securing heavy loads on construction sites or the prevention of falls from unprotected areas. This step has proven to be decisive to identify the axes for improving traditional security approaches. From there, prototypes have been created to demonstrate how immersive technologies can help prevent accidents and transmit clear security messages. Emphasis has also been placed on technological scalability and ease of use for a large audience of users.
BearingPoint and SUVA have thus developed a global operational model, technological architecture and a new full service offer for the Swiss market, called Swiss Safety VR. The platform is continuously enriched by an increasing collection of 20 -minute interactive modules, illustrating the concrete consequences of accidents. These modules are more instructive, more effective and more economical than conventional approaches. The project also provided structured support for continuous process improvement and scenarios simulation, while facilitating change management via trainers’ training services – a key factor to integrate the XR platform into the internal processes of the SUVA. Success is also based on a strong anchoring in a collaborative ecosystem. By co -financing the development of VR security content with various branch partners – notably Swiss professional federations and large construction companies – the project made it possible to release a huge synergies potential.
Matthias Roeser, partner at BearingPoint, says: “In partnership with SUVA, we use virtual reality to transmit security principles in a concrete and effective way. By combining immersive technology and real scenarios at risk, we make Swiss Safety VR more attractive, efficient and scalable training. This collaboration reflects our commitment to innovation: we have implemented advanced technology to improve work safety, while optimizing costs and performance. By making the platform widely accessible, we contribute together to strengthen security in many sectors. ”
Immersive experiences to improve safety at work
The launch of the Swiss Safety VR platform allows companies and their customers to improve their processes while integrating innovative training and communication techniques into their operations. This tool allows a significant improvement in traditional training initiatives and supports a fluid transition to mobile and immersive formats. The platform has the potential to considerably reduce the need for face -to -face workshops, thus generating significant time and costs. In addition, participants can remember safety messages than with traditional indoor training or e-learning modules.
By making content accessible free of charge to all organizations, including schools in Switzerland, BearingPoint and SUVA democratize access to quality VR training, even for small structures with limited resources. The platform is available in German, French, Italian and English, on the Meta Quest 3 helmet.
Nathanaël Bonvin, program manager, new technologies at SUVA, underlines: “The Swiss Safety VR platform allows us to offer actually engaging and effective training experiences, which motivate participants while significantly improving security results. We have chosen to collaborate with BearingPoint because of their expertise and their innovative approach, which were perfectly written in the commitment of SUVA to improve safety training. ”
