We promise crazy warmth to the WRC competitors this weekend on the acropolis rally. Nevertheless, Thursday evening, it was not the trying weather conditions that disturbed them, but the traffic jams in the Athenian capital! It is thus with more than an hour and a half late that the first pilots set off, and in dispersed order.
On the menu, a super special drawn mainly for the public, with only 1.5 km to go and a limited sporting issue. The organizers authorized the use of ramps of lights for those launched late, after having announced the substantial postponement.
On a very dusty asphalt but improving clearly over the passages, there are two to have made the same time to the tenth: Ott Tänak first, driving the Hyundai, then Sébastien Ogier with the Toyota. Takamoto Katsuta took third tenths.
If Elfyn Evans set off in the last position in the Rally1 category on this special special, the Welshman, the leader of the championship, will have a much more difficult task on Friday since he will have to open the road throughout the day, which will start very early in the morning.
