The decree lowering the right to gradual retirement to 60 years old against 62 years currently was published this Wednesday, July 23 at the Official Journal. The text specifies that concerned are the insured persons relating to the general regime, special regimes and in particular the public service regime, the regime of employees and agricultural employees and old age insurance regimes of the liberal professions and lawyers. These provisions “Will apply to pensions taking effect from September 1, 2025”.
This measure is from a series of agreements signed in the fall of 2024 between MEDEF, employers’ side, the CFDT and the CFTC, on the unions side, one of which focused on the employment of seniors and provided in particular to promote progressive, not very widespread pensions.
“The end of career should no longer be scary and strictly binary – full time or nothing – but on the contrary adapt to the desires and needs of each while promoting the maintenance in employment as long as possible”, estimated the Minister responsible for Labor and Employment, Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet. And add: “The lowering age of the age of access to progressive retirement is a major advance in this sense.”
