The German -speaking community will leave the province of Liège and recover its skills

In essence, the German -speaking community will therefore recover the skills currently exercised on its territory by the province of Liège.

We wish to generally recover provincial skills. The ambition of the German -speaking community is to become a territory without provincesays Oliver Paasch, the Minister-President of the German-speaking community. To do this, we will transfer the various provincial skills to Parliament, on the one hand, which will therefore play the role of a form of provincial council; And on the other hand, to the government, which will have the role of a provincial college.

For Wallonia, it involves transferring all the skills of all provinces to other levels of power. “”And not only, again, for the province of Liège but for all provincesconfirms Adrien Dolimont, the Minister-President Walloon, Because we no longer want provincial elections for 2030. We must therefore think: who will exercise what competence (s) and when? (…) All the skills currently exercised in the province of Liège and which have a link with the territory of the German -speaking community must be redesigned.“And in this regard, the Liberal Walloon hopes”that we will be able to cross the legislative course.”

Because at the legislative level, precisely, the difficulties are indeed numerous. Wallonia is therefore only at the very beginning of a process that remains very complicated.
