Shimano marks its beginnings in the entirely wireless gravel transmissions segment with the new 12 -speed GRX DI2 components.
By exploiting the wireless cockpit introduced with the Road and Gravel 2 x 12 transmissions then by integrating the wireless technology developed on the rear derailleur of the XTR series M9200, the GRX RX827 has an entirely wireless transmission designed for performance, sustainability and versatility.
With the RX827 series, the Gravel GRX range now includes a full range of mechanical and electronic gear change options in 1 x 12 and 2 x 12 speed configurations, allowing cyclists to adapt their transmissions to their requirements.
The GRX RX827 is designed to be close to the pilot, offering the freedom to choose without being attached. Without specific frame requirements, it can be easily installed on any Gravel bike you have. This allows you to improve your favorite bike with the latest technologies.
Centered around the RD-RX877 wireless rear derailleur, the GRX 1 x 12-speed group provides unrivaled chain management and a specific passage to Gravel cyclists.
The new system is designed for flawless performance on various terrains, whether it be the race, the exploration of roads or adventures all day.
The new GRX 1 x 12 speed transmission combines the RD-RX827 wireless rear derailleur with the RX825 Dial Control levers, the RX820 pedal, brakes and XT 10-51T cassette.
Cyclists can choose between 40 or 42 teeth trays and associate them with the micro spline 10-51T cassette. Likewise, the RX827 derailleur offers an electronic option for mountain bikes that use mountain bike cranks.
Whether it’s climbing trails or crossing flat sections, the GRX system adapts to any driving style or terrain.
The GRX RX827 rear derailleur, with the new Shimano Shadow ES technology, is offered in a single SGS specification and has been built for sustainability and functionality. The derailleur presents a low -profile design, and the chain stabilization unit goes perfectly in the body to minimize exposure to impacts
By eliminating the bright edges on the derailleur, he is able to manage most of the rock impacts when the track becomes rugged.
When inevitable impacts occur, the derailleur absorbs them. Then, the Automatic Impact Recovery function of Shimano instantly puts the derailleur to its original position.
Often, the pilot of the GRX RX827 will never realize that there was an impact on the derailleur.
The structure with wide links, the solid plate and the design of the pebbles further improve the survival capacity of the derailleur body, thus ensuring continuous performance even in rough and muddy conditions.
Shimano Grx 1 x Key characteristics at 12 speed
- Fully wireless DI2 platform – designed for ultimate reliability, the wireless DI2 system offers rapid and precise movement and compatibility with all SHIMANO 12 -speed gear levers (GRX, DURA -ACE, ULTEGRA, SHIMANO 105 DI2 as well as the XTR and DEORE XT BAR DI2 models).
- Robust – borrowing its design from the Shimano VTT DI2 line, the RX827 rear derailleur has the same design, a skating plate, a protected battery and an automatic shock recovery function.
- Refined ergonomics – Improved support, clean design of cockpit and unmatched personalization for higher handling and comfort.
- Enlarged versatility – Added GRX components options allow runners to optimize performance depending on the terrain, style and personal preferences.
Characteristics of rear derailleurs technology
- Low profile design – Shimano Shadow ES technology offers a design that reduces the frontal surface of the derailleur and eliminates the edges that could catch on rocks and road debris.
- Automatic impact recovery function – The derailleur absorbs shocks and automatically resets the rear derailleur, thus ensuring the continuity of performance.
- Super Strong Design – The rear derailleur body has a large sharp tingle and solid pebbles to minimize the entrance to the debris and ensure sustainability.
- New chain stabilization technology – two springs design creates higher tension for better chain envelope and better retention.
- Protection against batteries – safely nestled inside the rear derailleur body, the sealed battery will not even move on the most uneven ground, but is always easily accessible for load.
Advanced DI2 button functions
Whether it involves using the new BL-RX825-L brake lever or sticking with a pair of GRX St-RX825 Dual Control levers, the Shimano 1 x 12 speed GRX transmission offers a variety of gear change possibilities thanks to the customizable DI2 buttons as well as to complementary accessory switches.
Resumed previous generations, the GRX RX825 Dual Control lever has three Di2 buttons – Two buttons are located on the speed of gear changes while a third button is inside the casserole. The RX825 levers also make it possible to add additional buttons, which can be placed on the top of the hanger, in the hollow of the hanger or on extensions.
Each Di2 button can be assigned various functions, including moving the rear derailleur, controlling compatible lights or meters, or can be used as a remote function button for the rear derailleur. With this last option, runners can make travel settings on the fly without removing their hands from the handlebars.
