The torturer of the Chienne Timida, attached to the rails and crushed by a train, has confession

A man recognized before the prosecution of Syracuse, Italy, having been responsible for making disappear a feline colony in which two stray dogs also lived, reveals the Corriere della Sera. To perform this task, he would have called on two accomplices. According to the Italian daily newspaper, the individual, a mason by profession, claims to have acted at the request of a local lawyer, who wanted animals to be definitively far from the Lido Sacramento area, where they had lived for more than ten years.

On April 15, the colony was dismantled, the niches were thrown into the sea, and one of the two dogs, a dog named Timida and aged 14, was tied up on the rails of a railway. She was broke by a train without the driver being able to brake. The other dog, Tommy, has managed to escape and has since been adopted.

Associations ask for an autopsy

The animal protection associations Leal and Balzoo, which have followed this case from the start, denounce an act of unacceptable cruelty. They recall that Timida and Tommy were fed and protected by volunteers, such as cats in the colony. Leal asked that an autopsy be carried out to verify whether other violence has been imposed on the dog. At the scene of the drama, anonymous posters mentioning the names and faces of people suspected of being involved have been placked, a sign of the emotion aroused in the city.

Our file on animal abuse

Coming into force on July 1, the new Brambilla law strengthens sanctions against acts of animal abuse. She provides for sentences up to four years in prison and 60,000 euros fine. The Timida affair could become one of the first emblematic cases to fall under this new legal framework.
