Belgium continues to intensify its fight against banditry. The cabinet of the Minister of Justice Annelies Verlinden has announced that three major criminals are currently transferred to Belgium since the United Arab Emirates, where they had found refuge before being arrested: “A flight is currently heading for our country with three major criminals, including Othman El Ballluti, a notorious figure in international traffic”.
“The extradition of these criminals is much more than a simple step in criminal procedure. It symbolizes a strengthening of the rule of law, a common commitment against cross -border crime and a clear message that justice can also triumph in an international context. Cooperation between Belgium and the United Arab Emirates proves that diplomacy, technology and legal coordination are powerful tools to combat organized crime, “said the Minister of Justice Annelies Verlinden.
The three criminals are Othman El Ballouti, Giorgi Faes and Mathias Akyazili, details the minister’s cabinet. The criminals are repatriated aboard a Belgian defense plane and are escorted by federal police officers.
“These successful extraditions show that international cooperation works,” said Minister Verlinden. “It is a strong signal sent to all criminal networks: Belgium does not let go.
