In Zambia this Thursday, two tourists were killed by an elephant. According to Associated Press, the victims, a 67-year-old New Zealander and a 68-year-old Briton made a safari on foot in South Luangwa National Park in the east of the country, when they were attacked by the animal.
According to the first elements, the elephant was with his little one. She may have felt threatened and, to protect her child, would have attacked tourists, who were part of a group. Safari guides tried to prevent, in vain, the elephant from loading women by pulling on him. The animal was injured by the gunshots.
Two deadly attacks last year
In June 2024, an American tourist had also died in the safari, trampled on by an elephant. The 64 -year -old woman was with a group of visitors in a stop vehicle, not far from a herd of elephants. Suddenly, one of them attacked the vehicle, projecting the American on the ground and trampling it.
Three months earlier, in Kafue National Park, another group of American tourists had been the victim of a similar attack. An 80 -year -old man had been killed and five other people had been seriously injured.
