Last week, the opposition, without the Open VLD, had obtained the referral of amendments to the law-program to the Council of State. This vast text contains, among other things, the reform of unemployment and the limitation in time of allowances to a maximum of two years.
The opinion was therefore rendered this Friday, probably allowing the resumption of debates to the House next week.
Thus, the Council of State has no drawbacks to introduce an exception for unemployed caregivers. According to the amendment, this period should therefore not be taken into account to calculate the duration of the law for allowances.
However, in order not to break the principle of equality, other forms of care for care should possibly fall under this exception, adds the Council of State. This is, for example, palliative care leave or time credit for care.
The Council of State also did not formulate a remark on the amendments aimed at maintaining the VAT on oil and gas boilers at 6 %, instead of going to 21 %.
In the absence of time, the Council of State, on the other hand, could not decide on the amendments to adapt the exceptional conditions for people 55 and over.
