A small victory for kyiv. Ukrainian intelligence services (SBU) are boasting this Thursday to have discovered and arrested a mole in its army. If the identity of the infiltrated Russian agent has not leaked, it would be an “air force major”, according to a SBU statement.
“Military counterattack has thwarted a new attempt from the Russian Federation to obtain the contact details of the air infrastructure of the Ukrainian armed forces,” said intelligence services on their website.
“A high betrayal” caught “in time”
According to the SBU, the Taupe’s mission was to “collect valuable information on Ukrainian military aviation”. The latter had to obtain the geographic coordinates of operational aerodromes, logistical platforms and maintenance centers for combat aircraft in order to facilitate Russian strikes.
The intelligence services ensure that they have denounced the taupe “in time”, and documented its contacts with Moscow. The infiltrated agent operated by an officer from the FSB special operations department of the FSB, Alexander Belodyedov.

The spy had been recruited via his ex-wife, a former soldier, who works for Russia in Melitopol. His former partner, who is in the temporarily occupied southern part of Ukraine, was also suspected of betrayal during the war.
The fallen majority major of the Ukrainian Air Force is now placed in detention, and risks life prison for “high betrayal”, under Part II of article 28, part II of article 111 of the Ukrainian penal code.
For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force claims to have implemented “measures” to secure the location of its troops and its bases.
