Two French women aged 21 and 25 were arrested by the Valais police as part of a scam with false police officers. They attacked the elderly. The integer of loot, made up of bank cards, valuables and liquidity, could be found. A criminal instruction has been opened.
(Keystone-ATS) The facts took place on Monday evening, the cantonal police said on Thursday in a statement. An individual, pretending to be a police officer, contacted an 85 -year -old man by phone, masking his number. The crook told the injury that he had been the victim of fraudulent withdrawals from his bank accounts. He then announced the arrival of a colleague at his home for the rest of the procedure.
Shortly after, a woman appeared at the victim’s home. She was given several bank cards as well as a booklet containing confidential codes, according to the police. Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, when she asked the victim to write a letter of complaint, she also stole several valuables.
Using stolen cards, withdrawals of several thousand Swiss francs were made in automatic distributors in the region. Thanks to the system put in place, the police were able to arrest two suspects shortly after the facts. The integer of the loot could be found. The public prosecutor has opened an instruction.
The Valais cantonal police recall that the authorities never ask by telephone or in person banking information, PIN codes or the delivery of values or personal goods. If in doubt, it is imperative to hang up immediately and compose 117, she insists.
