For his part, Nathalie Delattre, current minister responsible for tourism and future candidate for the town hall, believes that “Take such a decision without vote in the municipal council is a democratic forgetfulness”.

For Virginie Bonthoux Tournay, reconquest candidate! Declared to the next municipal elections, “it is a betrayal of Bordeaux values”. For her, the first councilor wishes to do “A media blow”. “Pierre HURMIC has given in to pressures, in particular the Palestine Action Committee, which launched a public petition and multiplied the demonstrations, and of political groups like Bordeaux in struggle, which claimed the end of the twinning, as well as votes close to LFI.”

In June 2024, during a municipal council, Pierre Hurmic had already been questioned about a possible suspension of twinning with Ashdod.
