It’s the holidays! Finally, not for everyone: if the months of July and August are popular with most of us, the developers Apple historically are in full boom, the beta not waiting! But the rest of the teams being rather at rest, it’s time to imagine the future Apple possibilities with the unrealrable Mark Gurman.
It’s Oh So Quiet
If the range of Wearables is already well developed at Apple, it has had an increasing concern for a few years: it stagnates. The headphones are great, and have certainly been renewed for AirPods 4 with several new features from the AirPods Pro 2, but it is the latter that customers prefer, despite their high price. And the apple may integrate new functions (again this year with new heads of the head), this is not the expected revolution.
How to test the future news of the AirPods and AirPods Pro

Apple Watch? It’s even worse. The design has not really changed since now the Watch 4, the screen only getting closer to the edges, and the Ultra has stagnated since its release, having to settle for a new color and a brighter screen. So yes, some will say that the S9 integrated into the watch is much more capable than the S8. But so far, the difference was not obvious in Watchos 11. If things are led to change with Watchos 26, it is allowed to doubt a real need for S9 to manage the new functions reserved for Ultra 2: the brand would not be at its test on artificial limitations, pushing the customer to change for the last model.
Apple Watch: Back over 10 years of success and chess
In the end, this platitude of new features in the Wearable range is particularly felt on the results: the income from the “Wearable, House and Accessories” section of Apple dropped by 7% last year, and the devices composing it to seduce for 3 years now. Worse, Apple Watch has dropped by 14% over a year, and this year should not be better than the previous one.
So yes, Apple would prepare a new Apple Watch SE for the end of the year, and an ultra 3 integrating satellite communications without requiring iPhone next to it. But would it be enough to renew interest? Nothing is less certain.
It’s in Our Hands
Apple is preparing a new device in a corner of its workshops, with glasses capable of competing with the Ray-Ban (and now Oakley) Meta. But in the meantime? Why not come to the field of connected rings? Apple has made no announcements in this sense, and nothing allows us to think that the teams are on this subject. And yet, for several reasons, the idea would be of interest.

First, the release of a connected ring would allow Apple to find a rapid growth lever for its Wearable category: if the creation of a pair of connected glasses is still something quite complex, a connected ring is largely within Apple’s reach in a small year of research, homemade technologies already allowing to have a solid base. Just see the computing power integrated into simple pro AirPods, and the number of sensors in an Apple Watch to realize it. But other bonuses are also significant:
-
More pleasant to wear than Apple Watch, especially during sleep: as much a watch can be a discomfort on the wrist, as much a ring is almost imperceptible.
-
No screen, so a device that can last several days before requiring it.
-
More discreet than an Apple Watch, and therefore easier to wear with any outfit: where the watch always makes “Sportswear”, a ring can always be worn discreetly, including in the height.
-
Last but not least, the worshipers of classic watches (and there are much more than you think, the author of these lines included) could finally carry their favorite mechanical watch without losing the health monitoring functions.
Oura launches a more precise ring 4 and reviews the design of her app
The arrival of a ring could also provide new functions in other areas: why not make it an even more precise pointer for certain uses with the pro vision? For new interactions with Siri? Integrate Apple Pay, with a default card (not having a screen to choose the card to use)? Allow you to open the door of your home, or your car?
After ōura and Samsung, Apple would also have a connected ring under construction
The interaction could also be excellent with the next apple connected glasses: the ring could serve as a discreet remote control (rather than a voice command or to tap a branch of the binocles). On the health side, integration is perfect: excellent autonomy, and sensors in abundance (oxygen, heart rate, sleep monitor, etc.) as close as possible, one of the most practical places to collect this type of data.
I’ve Seen It All
If the arrival of a ring is more than hypothetical, even if the idea is more than interesting given the possible integration, the arrival of a new version of the lightened and cheaper pro vision, it is strengthened, just like that of a version linked to a Mac.

As usual Apple will not make any announcements in the field as long as it has not planned an official exit, but the clues were obvious to WWDC 2025: during this week reserved for developers, the company held a conference on a new system in SWIFTUI, called MacOS Spatial Rendering. The idea is to allow developers to carry out complex 3D rendering on the Mac, before sending it on the screens of the pro vision.
Even if Apple’s augmented reality headset is already very powerful, it cannot compete in calculation capacities and rendering with the chips integrated into the Macs. The idea of taking out a version necessarily linked to the MAC would not only make these rendering in a simpler way, at the same time eliminating latency due to wireless networks in the current version, and who knows, perhaps to slightly lower the price for those who do not need an autonomous version of the helmet.
Possibly Maybe
For its part, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is still following its way, with a presentation set at the moment at the end of next year. However, it should not be expected either that Apple breaks well installed by Samsung and his comrades for 5 years now: the foldable iPhone should come in the same form as the Samsung Z Fold 6, with an opening in the form of a book, and an external screen when it is folded. Apple would intend to stand out by a particularly worked hinge, and the absence of hollows in the middle of the unfolded screen.

It’s Not up to You
And the functions “seen” by the leaks, but not announced at WWDC? If nothing has been said about the automatic translation and instantaneous by the AirPods Pro during the conference, nor the possibility of synchronizing Wi-Fi networks of hotels between the different devices, Mark Gurman does not lose hope: Apple is careful not to reveal functions of which it is not sure of the exact release date, not wanting to repeat the fiasco last year. Several instant translation functions were presented during the WWDC, and the code concerning the new Wi-Fi function was found in iOS 26, there is therefore a strong hope that at least one of these two functions is ready for an update during the year, possibly iOS 26.4 as this often happens in apple.
Enjoy
If Apple is completely concentrated on the release of ’26 iterations from its software, it goes without saying that the teams continue to work on the next materials to come. Will we have a surprise, or everything is already known by our usual taupes? The future will tell us. In the meantime, I wish you a good week, and next Sunday!
