Under a blazing sun, the weekend of June 27 to 29, were held the French championships J14 and Masters at Lac du Causse (Brive-la-Gaillarde). The Agen returned from silver and bronze.

Despite a new registration record and a marked increase in the level among the masters, the rowers of Aviron Agenis once again proved that they were at the rendezvous of the high level with two podiums.

During the first day, Friday, in double category D (50 years and over), Jérôme Neyrac and Gabriel Vassau finish vice-champions of France after a race for battle. The other two doubles, Mathieu Angibaud and Clément Romat in category B (36 years and over) as well as Frédéric Barennes and Geoffrey Duflocq in category C (43 and over) finish in 5th place.

They sign the same performance the next day in four of couple C (43 years and over) with Clément Romat, Frédéric Barennes, Mathieu Angibaud and Gabriel Vassau (5th).

No final on Sunday, but only a ranking in series time (temperatures too high in the afternoon).

A peak in bronze

In peak four category A (27 years and over), Jérôme Neyrac, Clément Romat, Gabriel Vassau and Geoffrey Duflocq create surprise by climbing the 3rd step of the podium. A very good performance when you know that the main competitors had an average age of age of fifteen years! In mixed double scull, Diane Maissonnier and Mathieu Angibaud finished in the first half of the ranking, in 14th place.

Mathieu Angibaud, head of the Masters section analyzed this weekend: “Thanks to the arrival of our new coach, Clément Leprêtre, alternating DEJEPS AViron in Vichy, we improved our technical and physical level. We then hoped to be able to win one or two more medals, but the level does not stop increasing. The overall result remains very good.”

J14 in the French top 10

For their part, the young J14, Antoine Bruneau, Robin Cornaggia, Elisa Barennes and Lily Dall’agnol, barred by Peyo Sauvé, after having obtained the 6th time during the series, fell in a raised semi-final and fail to open the door of the grand finale A. At the end of a race on board, they end in 3rd place Final B in four barred couple or 9th. “I am super happy with them. A progression all year round with a more than honorable end result,” said Clément Leprêtre.

The next and last French championships will be held in Vichy next weekend for Tiago Batiste Caceres and Gabin Rayssac in Double-Scull J16.
