“Serious and life injuries”, what is this new trend that ignites Tiktok?

Burn lines :

A new Tiktok trend worries. Users glorify the marks left by sunburn and call to expose themselves without sun protection.

If some try all the techniques to avoid tanning marks, a new trend, or “trend”, advocates sunburn on Tiktok. It is not the first fashion that wreaked havoc on health and it can have serious consequences. The “Burn Lines” trend encourages young people, more particularly young women, to display their brands of sunburn. C

As any fashion effect, there are techniques to achieve it: expose yourself to the sun when the UV index is at its maximum, without sun protection and with sunbathing oil, and even burn with a lighter, hot metal or a hairdryer. These sunburns are called “pending tan”, depending on the theory that a sunburn will gradually turn into tan, which is false and dangerous for the skin. On the Chinese social network, hundreds of videos show very young girls wear these “burn lines” with pride.

An association gives the alert

A Belgian association, the Foundation des Brûlées, which helps victims and families of the victims of large painful and disabling burns, sounds the alarm: “Burns are not an art form, but serious injuries with life consequences. We must take this behavior seriously and supervise young people before it degenerates”, alert Stefaan Lauwaer, It is important to specify that these sunburn or burns, even superficial, can cause strong pain, permanent scars, infections and even promote skin cancers. Do not burn with too hot objects or in the sun.

Sun protection should be applied every day to protect the skin, mainly when the UV index is high. Putting sun protection does not prevent them from sunbathing naturally, in a healthy way, at lower risk for the skin. The best is still to limit its exposure to the sun as much as possible.
